World War II – Wireless Electrical Mechanic
James was born March 16, 1924 at Scarboro Bluffs, Ontario. He joined the RCAF in 1942, trained as a Wireless Electrical Mechanic and released from service at the end of the war, 1945. In 1947 he attended the Ontario Agricultural College and graduated in 1951 with a degree in Entomology.
He moved to Madison Wisconsin, University of Wisconsin Entomology Department and received a Masters degree in Entomology 1952. He then transferred to the Department of Zoology to work on for the Depth Distribution of fishes in Lake Mendota, Wisconsin. James earned a PhD degree in Fisheries and Entomology, 1956.
The same year, 1951, he moved to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and was employed by the Federal Department of Fisheries. In 1956, he again moved back to Sault Ste. Marie as Director of the Great Lakes Fisheries Commissions Canadian Sea Lamprey Control Program in the Great Lakes. James retired in 1986.
James built a home at Harmony Beach Ontario and established a sport fishing charter business and catering concession in the Sault.
