July 20, 1964 – February 10, 2026
Peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at ARCH on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Loving husband of 29 years to Andrea. Beloved father to Dylan. He is survived by his father Bob Garson Sr. and predeceased by his mother Anne Garson (Palahnuk). Deeply missed by his siblings Kathy Lemieux (Phil), Reg Garson, and Karen Garson. Dear son-in-law to Tom Dietrich and his late wife Karen Dietrich. Brother-in-law to Trevor Dietrich (Tracy), Tim Dietrich (Wendy), and Terry Dietrich (Erin). He was a proud and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He will also be missed by his many cherished friends. Bob served with pride for 38 years with the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves (CAF) climbing to the rank of Warrant Officer. His time in the CAF reflected his lifelong commitment to service, mentorship, and country. In addition, Bob was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion of Branch 25 and the Airforce Association.
Bob’s true passion was becoming a bush plane pilot. For 30 years he serviced lodges and outposts in Northern Ontario. This passion led to Bob and Andrea owning and operating Garson’s Fly-In Outposts for the last 24 years. Bob’s dedication to bringing tourism to Northern Ontario was exemplified by serving on the Northern Ontario Tourist Outfitters Association (NOTO) Board of Directors for the last 22 years, including 9 years as President. His positivity was infectious, and his objectivity helped provide strong leadership for the organization. Bob received two Ministerial appointments: the Minister’s Mining Act Advisory Committee and the Big Game Management Advisory Committee. In recognition for years of exceptional leadership and dedication to Northern Ontario’s tourism industry, Bob received NOTO’s Tourism Champion Award in November 2025.
Special thanks to Dr. Apostle, ARCH, and the Paramed nurses.
